Getting a bit of a glow on

My styling repertoire expanded recently….at a media product launch for a PR company. The venue was a suite at Debretts which needed to be dressed in a way that showcased the new multi coloured scented candle from Airwick – the star of the day.

This was the perfect opportunity to lay on luxury and romance and create a wonderful setting for the media guests…..and the first time I’ve ever had the luxury of a budget to brief a florist (usually its a flying visit to Bhana Bros to select a couple of suitable blooms for the day). Orchids (one of the scents of the candles) were everywhere, scattered on the bed, side tables and floating in abundance in the bath. Gentle, flattering candle light caressed and embraced all.

The suite was enhanced with a few additional tasty bits (fav cushions from my personal collection and a kind supplier, colourful towels to pay homage to the striking striped carpet from another kind supplier, and a charcoal nude that I did back a university….perfect thing to hide the unsightly TV in the bedroom when accompanied by some artfully hung jasmine).

Thanks to the client’s fashion connections the wardrobe was filled with glam his ‘n’ hers clothing to give a totally stylish “occupied” feeling to the suite.

But really, the star of the day was the candle, and high praise to the photographer who had a very challenging time given the lighting levels.

We can all thank the Lord and his accompanying angels that I didn’t single-handedly reduce Debretts to a pile of smouldering ashes on the day…..because I did go a little pyro for the last couple of shots.
